Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy for Women Who Have Always Felt Different

Bloom in Color Therapy and Wellness offers therapy for neurodivergent women who have spent their lives trying to fit in by stretching themselves to fit systems that were never designed with their minds in mind.

What does the term ‘Neurodivergent’ Mean?

  • The term ‘Neurodivergent’ is a socio-political term that reflects a person whose functioning and brain processes looks different from neuronormativity standards and names a particular social positioning and category.

  • The term ‘Neurodivergent’ is an umbrella term, meaning many conditions fall under this category, including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, CPTSD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Epilepsy, Dyslexia, and Tourettes Syndrome. Each of these conditions represents a unique way in interpreting the world.

Why Neurodivergent Women Seek Therapy?

Neurodivergent women often arrive in therapy at the intersection of exhaustion and insight. Not because they have failed, but because the systems holding them have finally asked too much. Many seek therapy:

  • When burnout interrupts daily functioning or leads to emotional shutdown

  • When chronic overwhelm, anxiety, or depression no longer feels situational

  • When executive functioning challenges make routine, tasks, and follow-through feel impossible

  • When productivity, perfectionism, or people-pleasing begins to cost more than it gives

  • When parenting amplifies sensory, emotional, or regulatory limits

  • When a late diagnosis reframes a lifetime of struggle

  • When self-criticism, shame, or internalized narratives become too heavy

If you’ve ever wondered why life feels harder than it “should”, the answer may not be effort. It may be wiring.

How We Work Together

Therapy here draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic work, and narrative therapy. We work to understand the patterns your mind and body built to survive environments that weren't built for you, and build a relationship with yourself that doesn't require constant self-monitoring to feel safe.

This work often includes:

  • Untangling late-diagnosed ADHD, autism, or AuDHD from a lifetime of misattributed labels such as being too lazy, too sensitive, too much, not enough

  • Building executive functioning support that fits your actual brain, not a productivity system designed for someone else's

  • Processing burnout and naming its real sources whether it’s sensory, relational, professional, parental

  • Deciding, on your own terms, when masking still serves you and when it's costing more than it's worth

  • Making space for grief, anger, or relief that can come with a late diagnosis and sometimes all three at once
